We cater from 5- to 75-year-olds, we have mixed class’s along with individual male and female class’s. We work with all forms of cycling clubs with both road and off-road experience. If you or your group of friends wish, we can design a further tailored suite of courses to cover all aspects of MTB. We also cater for the growing e-bike community and have race experience here also. We can prepare you for your first mates spin to a full on Enduro World Series race and everything in between! Also due to the expanding network of MTB centres our coaching is now available countrywide.

What to expect ?

Beginning with our introduction, bike check and skills level discussion, we then head to begin our outdoor classroom. This is where the work starts, and we can really begin to help you develop. We monitor your current level, identify your strengths and weaknesses, and begin to work with you. During your session, our coach will ride behind you, this will give us the opportunity to watch your habits as you naturally ride your bike. We will download everything that we see, be prepared as we miss nothing! We will then discuss where we feel you can improve and what areas to work on. Our coach will advise you on jumps, pumping, cornering, climbing and sprinting, along with a full range of cross training that we recommend.

Remembering mountain biking is a cross of many different combined biking disciplines so here you will discover how been able to ride over tree roots in your local park to how advantageous riding over stacked pallets in your garden will be to help you enjoy your bike riding even more

After your days tuition you will receive a personalised email covering areas to work on and homework, yes homework! Then you can go and practice your newly discovered skills. From our experience many of our pupils will return for further courses once they’ve seen how much can be learned in the hands of our highly trained coaches.

Advise

For coaching we recommend you use your own mountain bike which should be competently prepared before your arrival at our coaching session. All bikes should have a minimum of front suspension, working disc brakes, off road tyres and have no accessories that may hinder your riding during the coaching. If you currently have carriers or other accessories, for your own safety please have them removed before your arrival.

For everyone’s enjoyment and safety, we highly recommend that you are in a fit and healthy condition and be prepared for an energetic day in the mountains, if you have any allergies or underlining health issues we would appreciate if you highlight these on your booking and address any concerns you may have on your arrival.

For everyone, we advise that suitable clothing is worn, good fitting gloves are recommended and most important of all you or your child has a proper fitted helmet. We recommend you have water and food to carry, this is especially relevant for underage children.

For sessions at Glencullen Adventure Park (The GAP) if you wish to rent a bike please contact the GAP directly and prebook your bike and equipment. Please let the staff know you are booking for one of our coaching sessions.

Who is Killian Callaghan?

Killian Callaghan is Ireland’s only ever Enduro MTB World Champion! Not known for just winning in Ireland, he is also the only Irish Enduro rider to have stood on EWS podiums on three different continents. EWS podiums in USA , Canada , Australia & across Europe. , the only Irish Enduro rider ever to be awarded a UCI Enduro Medal, the list of victories goes on.

Born into a biking family, Killian competed in his first motorcycle trial at the age of 7 , taking his very first victory . Over the following years he went on to win 10 Motorcycle Trials titles. During this time, he represented Ireland on many occasions, been the top Irish competitor at each event. Interestingly Killian, Emmet and Ross Callaghan hold a unique record as been the only 3 brothers to have ever won 3 off road motorcycle titles in the same year, the record still stands today.

A quick change to pedal power, Killian then turned his hand to BMX. Hundreds of hours spent practicing in Skateparks and BMX tracks brought Killian the National Outdoor BMX title, numerous Indoor BMX titles. 360’s and backflip’s on his BMX were a common sight.

After an injury on his BMX, Killian discovered Mountain Biking and set him off on some incredible journeys around the world. Gravity Ireland Enduro Champion, National Enduro Champion, race wins after race wins, top 10 qualifier at world famous Mega Avalanche. First runner-up at the UCI-UEC European Championship.

Come 2015 Killian scored his first EWS Podium on his Biking.ie/Vitus at the EWS Emerald Enduro.

Moving into 2016, he took his first ever EWS race win which set him on the road to 4th overall in the EWS Series.

Rolling into 2017 and still working full time around his racing, he could only pull together product support to build his race bike 6 weeks before the opening EWS Race in Australia. His race season only became possible with individual products support along with fund raising through personal sponsors. Killian took podium after podium during the season becoming so dominant, he had the Under 21 title won before the last race in Finale Ligure. In the penultimate round in Whistler the Dublin teenager raced to another podium  and wrote a significant piece of history by becoming Irelands first ever Enduro World Champion.

In 2018 Killian had to sit out most of the racing season through lack of sponsorship. Never one to give up, with the support of his long-time sponsor and employer EP Mooney, a Transit van was converted to Hotel Transit and Killian took off alone for almost 3 months, taking in EWS and DH races. His talents were spotted by Benno Willett and he was offered a chance to sign for Specialized Factory Racing Team for the 2019 racing season. His experience with Specialized gave Killian the opportunity to work directly with the highest level suspension technicians from the Ohlin’s suspension team and ironically Killian now runs Ground Control Suspension specialising in Ohlin’s Suspension. Killian is now part of the Specialized Ambassador program.

Never one to miss a challenge, Killian was also the first Irish rider to race the new E-EWS Series when he scored top 10 stage placings in his first E-EWS race in Switzerland.

Unfortunately, when Covid came part of our lives travelling and racing became a casualty. With the seed already sown Callaghan Bike Coaching  became a reality. Now you can gain the experience and direct tuition of Irelands only ever EWS Enduro World Champion.
